Monday, May 9th. Day one.

I started the day at 9 AM by going over to the actual "Chuck's Corner". Chuck's and I met in his office at the top corner of the admissions building where we had a short informal talk about my plans: What I hope to do in these next few weeks, and how I plan to do it.
After all that was said and done I headed over to the Wise Center to start writing. I jotted down a few notes that I could write without someone else's opinion.... such as what an "Advisor" is, and what their job is. I found this to be a great start to a complex guide. Not necessarily the beginning of the book, but it's where I started.
After that I headed over to assembly to make an announcement about how I need student's support for this guide because... well, I don't know everything about Proctor... and I will need other people's opinions and perspectives to write a proper guide. Which is exactly what happened after assembly when I sat down with Mackin (Yes, he's back apparently) and he told me many things he has discovered about Proctor. He gave me a wide range of things to put down such as:
"Don't swear in the Wise. Ed will take you down."
"Be optimistic for orientation. If you think it's going to suck, it's going to suck."

After getting a couple of food ideas from students, I went to the Dining Hall to try some out. I had one of the best grilled cheeses I'v ever made in the Dining Hall, and a drink called the Grand Slam which consisted of all six fruit drinks combined. Overall, a very enjoyable meal.
The rest of the afternoon I spent writing... and then at 3:15 I headed over to the theater for rehearsal. Overall, today made a nice dent into my project. I look forward to tomorrow!

  2. Hey Canon, cool project. Have you thought about asking INCOMING students, the ones arriving next fall, what they think they want to know?

  3. Great idea, Karl. Canon: tomorrow we might look into if and how we might get involvement from incoming freshmen. But don't look for me at 9:00....I'm in a meeting until almost 10AM. We'll connect at lunch.
